For starters, we’d like to share our story – a little ditty about how a spark of an idea became brick and mortar. Back in 2017, Pramod Bankar, our founder, down with cough and cold, was resting near the bonfire in the courtyard of his native house in Rahuri Ahmednagar. His Grandma got him some Haldi Dudh (Turmeric Milk) in a kulhad and placed it in one corner of the bonfire to re-heat. The bubbling dudh in the Kulhad was his Eureka moment! A sip of the haldi dudh and the light bulb atop his head lit. Darn, it was tasty and chock full of the smoky flavor.
Who would have thought that a one-off combination of Kulhad and Tandoor would give birth to our signature Tandoor Tadka chai!
Armed with inspiration, Pramod embarked on the journey of exploring new variations of the kulhad. With little on offer here, our pioneer took matters into his own hands. He trawled high and low, gulped 200 cups of chai to sort the best tandoor chai patti, explored multiple tandoor bhattis to brew the best, and lastly formulated the golden chai masala. Equipped with the finest Pramod introduced Tandoor Tadka Chai to the world on March 18, 2018 at his first outlet in Kharadi.
News of his unique concoction ‘The Tandoor Tadka Chai ’ spread, his corporate job was abandoned and Chai La The Tandoor Tea was born!
With rave reviews on 33 channels and 168+ articles, today Chai La The Tandoor Tea has 24 snazzy looking cafés across Pune and more are in the pipeline. With a plan to open outlets across India in the forthcoming year, Tandoor Chai is in a league of its own with none to compete and the only way is to move up and forward!
